BEDFORD -- Kelton L. Kupper, 67, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road in Hurst. The Rev. Dr. Ronny Marriott, pastor of Shady Oaks Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment: 2 p.m. Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Lane A. Visitation: The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials: Friends who desire are respectfully invited to honor Kelton with contributions in his name to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Kelton Lavell Kupper was born July 4, 1940, in Dawson to Tracy and Ona Mae Kupper. He served four years in the Air Force. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked at General Dynamics and attended Texas Wesleyan University. After receiving his degree, he started his teaching and coaching career. He taught and coached at Kerns, Winona, Big Sandy, Madisonville, Pilot Point, MacArthur in Irving and Coppell. He retired from the Northwest ISD. Over the many years he was privileged to have taught and coached many young men and women who have gone on to make him very proud. They were all special to him. Kelton was a member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church. He was very active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He helped make it possible for students to go to Washington, D.C. His love was Texas history and wanted to make sure everyone else knew about it. He never met a stranger and loved meeting new people and finding out their history. He was preceded in death by is father, Tracy Kupper. He will be missed by all. Survivors: He was a wonderful husband to his wife, Gailen, for 47 years. Other survivors are his son, Kyle Kupper; daughter, Stayce Cervantes; mother, Ona Mae Taylor; stepmother, Nell Kupper; brothers, Carlton Taylor and Steve Taylor; grandchildren, Tyler Kupper and Kaylyn Fisher; son-in-law, Saul Cervantes; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
