BEDFORD -- Larry Hicks, 74, passed away Monday, July 5, 2010, in Bedford. Graveside service: 9:45 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Memorials: To honor his memory, memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association, Box 7000, Albert Lea, Minn. 56007; or Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79105. Larry was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Owensboro, Ky. He was the son of Archie and Bertha Hicks. Larry served his country on the USS Brister D.E.R. ship when he was in the Navy. He was employed by real estate and insurance companies. He was best known as the greeter at his favorite job with Costco for nine years. He felt like Costco was the best company to work for and was his second family. "Poppy" was the greatest husband and father anyone could ever ask for. Survivors: Childhood sweetheart and wife of 51 1/2 years, Annette; sons, Barry and his wife, Teresa, and Brian; grandchildren, Shawnda, Cody, Christina and Patrick; sister, Lois Cloar and husband, Jim, and family; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
