GRANBURY -- Lester Denton McLain, 75, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Parker Memorial Cemetery, Grapevine. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall, Grapevine. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials are requested to Cal Farley Boys Ranch, Amarillo, Texas. A native of Spearman, Lester was born Nov. 19, 1938, to C.A. and Ruth Denton McLain. He retired from Phillips Petroleum after 30 years. He was responsible for the development of the fiber optic pipeline. He was in oil and gas production in the Panhandle. Lester and Ruby would have celebrated 31 years of marriage July 29. Survivors: His wife of 31 years, Ruby; her children, Robert Weddle and wife, Cynthia, Wesley Weddle and wife, Angela, Charles Weddle and wife, Jennifer; son, Denny Lee McLain; daughter, Ann Aneke McLain; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Jimmie McLain.
