HURST -- Lloyd Freeman Hudson, 89, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church, 1248 W. Hurst Blvd., Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Military honors and burial will take place at 1 p.m. Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane A. Lloyd left the 10th grade at Birdville High School to join the 112th Horse Cavalry in World War II. He earned the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in the Pacific at the Battle of New Britain in 1943. After being discharged he met the love of his life, Evelyn Karr, and they were married two weeks later. They celebrated their 66th anniversary last May 16. He had been a member of Friendship Baptist of Hurst since 1947. Because of his great love for his Lord and church family, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, William Harvey Hudson and Jewel Ailene Henderson Hudson; brothers, Glen Hudson and Bobby Hudson; and sister, Dorothy Lucille Hudson. Survivors: Evelyn Frances Karr Hudson; son, Dana Hudson and wife, Judy; daughter, Brenda Hudson Guess and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Jennifer Hudson Ridlehoover and husband, Jody, Greg Hudson and wife, Tomi, Shawney Hudson Hambrick and husband, Mike, Kerry Hudson Hargrove and husband, Chris, Gabriel Guess and wife, Michelle, and Sarah Guess Thompson and husband, Curtis; and 16 great-grandchildren.
