Luther Hankins

HURST -- Luther W. Hankins, 85, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012. Memorial: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Rev. Donna McKee will officiate. Memorials: May be made to First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Luther was born on Aug. 20, 1926, in Sulphur Bluff. At the age of 9 he went to live at the Methodist home in Waco. He left the home at 17 and was soon drafted and joined the Merchant Marine. He married Billye Jo Woodruff in 1946, and they were married for 61 years. He worked for Park Davis for 38 years, retired at 55, and then worked with his son, Mike, in the fire extinguisher business for an additional 30 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hurst. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks. L.W. was preceded in death by his wife, Billye Jo; his brother, Jimmy Frazier;, and two sisters, Wanda Ruth Allen and Rosemary Allen.
