NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Mable L. Troup, 93, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at a local hospital. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday in Lucas Funeral Home Chapel, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, with the Rev. Lawrence Hammond officiating. Interment: Following a committal service, Mable will be laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyvlle next to her husband, Elmer, who preceded her in death in 1975. Visitation: Mable will lie in state Wednesday afternoon at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Mable Lucille was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Morgantown. W.Va., to Albert and Minnie Funk Ford. She moved to Warren, Ohio, as a teenager. She married Elmer R. Troup in 1933. They had three children. The family moved to Fort Worth in 1945. The two priorities of her life were her family and the church. She and her husband, Elmer, were very influential in the establishment of Broadview Baptist Church. They later were an important part of First Baptist Church of Smithfield. The last few years Mable had been a member of North Richland Hills Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for children at Broadview and Smithfield for many years. Survivors: Sons, Don Troup and wife, Melba, and Tom Troup and wife, Cheryl; daughter, Janet Smith and her husband, Melvin; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
