MALVINA GOLDIN

DALLAS -- Malvina "Molly" Klein Goldin died peacefully Sunday morning, Jan. 1, 2012, at a Plano hospital, during her 86th year. Service: 2 p.m. Monday in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, 411 N. University Drive, with Rabbi Menachem Block of Chabad Plano, officiating. Shiva and minyan will be held at the Goldin residence in Plano. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity of one's choice, in Molly's memory, is suggested. Born Oct. 7, 1925, in Muncaich, Czechoslovakia, Molly was one of five children. She lived happily, with her family, until the age of 19. In 1944, she and her family were taken as prisoners by box-car to several prison camps, the last being Auschwitz. Molly was held there for over a year in the labor camp. During this time, she was pictured behind a barbed wire fence in a historical document. Two sisters and her parents were lost at the camp, leaving Molly, her brother and sister as Holocaust survivors. Molly immigrated to the New York in 1948 with the help of friends and relatives. While there, she met her husband, Harry Goldin, and married in 1949. In 1953, she, Harry and their son, Sidney, who was born in 1951, moved to Louisiana. Later they moved to Lufkin and settled in Fort Worth in 1956. Molly remained in Fort Worth, following the death of her husband in 1980, until the early 1990s when she moved to Dallas to be closer to her family. Molly was a kind person, always helping friends and neighbors in Fort Worth. She also saw that her sister and family, behind the Iron Curtain, following the war, were provided with clothing and other necessities on a regular basis. Molly will be missed by her family and many friends. Her family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caretakers at Golden Acres and the Life Care Center of Plano for all of their support and many kindnesses during her illness. Survivors: In addition to her son, Sidney, Molly is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jill, and granddaughters, Sara and Holly, whom she loved dearly; by a niece in Israel; and several cousins.
