Martha Sitzes

Slay Memorial Funeral Center Aubrey, Texas Martha L. Sitzes, 85, of Pilot Point passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 28, 2012. She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught for thirty-three years in the Fort Worth Independent School District. Martha was born August 12, 1926 to Roy Mahan and Emma Ray Campbell Tompkins in Beaumont, Texas. She received her education training at North Texas State Teachers College in Denton. She married Lawson Gerald Sitzes, Jr. in Fort Worth, Texas on June 17, 1949. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at Pilot Point Community Cemetery with Reverend Luther Slay officiating. Martha is survived by one niece, Martha Medina of Austin, Texas; two nephews, Jim Hardin of Hotchkiss, CO. and Joe Hardin of Holbrook, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson Gerald Sitzes, Jr., one sister, Adelia "Addie" Ray Baggett and one nephew, Arthur Hardin. Memorials in honor of Martha L. Sites may be made to Pilot Point Community Library or to Pilot Point School District. Services are under the direction of Terri Slay and the staff of Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, Texas.
