SOUTHLAKE -- Mary Carolyn Belcher, 84, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, Martin United Methodist Church, 2621 Bedford Rd. Interment: Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Mary, a native of Tulsa, Okla., was born Nov. 11, 1928, to John Kenneth and Mary Perry Fasken. She was a violinist with the Tulsa Symphony. She graduated from the University of Tulsa and received her master's degree from Sul Ross College in 1957. As an elementary school teacher she taught in the Ector County ISD for 33 years and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary was a longtime member of Highland United Methodist Church in Odessa and a current member of Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford. She was an active quilter and enjoyed her involvement with both the Bear Creek Quilters Guild and the Martin Methodist Piecemakers. Survivors: Her husband of 54 years, Colby Belcher; son, Jeff Belcher (Susan); daughter, Julie Ivie (Mark); and grandchildren, Kyle Suratt, Kade Suratt, Kale Ivie, Calley Belcher and Brett Belcher.
