BEDFORD -- Mary New Brown, 88, went home to spend Christmas and eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday morning, December 22, 2008, surrounded by her son, three daughters, family and friends. Celebration of Life: 10 a.m. Friday, December 26, in the chapel of Lucas Hurst Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road. The Rev. Bob Neely, Pastoral Care Minister of First Baptist Church, Euless, will officiate. Burial: Following a 3 p.m. committal service, Mary will be laid to rest with her husband, Eugene Cornelius Brown, Jr. in Oakwood Cemetery, Waco. Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour before the service, Friday, at Lucas Funeral Home. Mary was born February 6, 1920, in Clifton, Texas, the third of nine children born to William Roy and Essie Belle New. On September, 2, 1948, she married Gene Brown in Dallas, Texas. They had four children and enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Mary loved visiting with her friends and family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for whom she prayed faithfully every day. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Survivors: son, Eugene "Buddy" Cornelius Brown III; daughters, Carol Sage, Martha Smith and Linda Brown; grandchildren, Irene Hearn, Ashley Dillon, Whitney Fischer, Lucas Smith and Caleb Smith; eight great-grandchildren; brother, William New; sisters Neil Dickerson and Faye Rasco.
