FORT WORTH -- Mary Jane Carter, 85, died peacefully after a full and happy life Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007. Memorial Eucharist: 3 p.m. Monday at All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road. Visitation: Her family will receive friends 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to a charity of choice, in memory of Jane, is suggested. Born in Cleburne on Sept. 28, 1922, the only child of George Earl and Ruth Clifford Gilby, Jane was a longtime resident of Fort Worth. A graduate of Arlington Heights High School, Jane attended TCU and graduated from Texas Tech University. She was a graduate of Baylor School of Nursing and was an RN at Harris Hospital when she met Dr. Willis H. Carter. Jane made many dear friends throughout her active life. An avid tennis and bridge player, Jane was involved in organizations ranging from the Medical Women's Alliance of Tarrant County to the Ridglea Dinner Club. She served on the Altar Guild of Fort Worth's All Saints Episcopal Church. Her sense of humor and enthusiasm endeared her to many. The family is grateful to Dr. Robert Kelly and Antonia for their professional and loving care. Survivors: Her husband, Dr. Willis H. Carter; daughter, Patricia Carter Wright and her husband, Ronal of Fort Worth; son, Mike Carter and his wife, Mary of Dallas; and daughter, Janis Carter-Stone and her husband, Dan of Lexington, Ky. She found great joy in her grandchildren, Mark Wilson, Stacey Carter, David Carter, Carter Froman and Laura and Megan Carter-Stone.
