HALTOM CITY -- Mary Clark passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, surrounded by her family. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Birdville Baptist Church followed by an opportunity to visit with loved ones in the Family Life Center. Memorials: For those who wish to honor her life, contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or Birdville Baptist Church. Mary was born Nov. 22, 1941, to Herald and Imogene Thomas. From childhood forward she illuminated the world with her sharp intellect and precocious wit. She inspired thousands of students as an English teacher for 38 years at Richland High School and Haltom High School. Ask any of her colleagues or former students and they will readily share a cherished memory. She fiercely loved God and her family. She read every day of her adult life and in her retirement traveled to England multiple times a year. She dearly loved to laugh and if you were in her presence then you were laughing too. Mary was a member of Birdville Baptist Church for 47 years and taught women's Sunday school class for 25 years. Survivors: Husband of 47 years, Gary Lee Clark; daughter, Holly McCanlies and husband, Mark; son, Jeff Clark and Daniele; grandchildren, Matt McCanlies, Cayden and Charley Clark; brother, Phillip Thomas and wife, Mildred; mother-in-law, Bessie Clark; sister-in-law, Linda Ranelle; nieces and nephews; and a wealth of treasured friends.
