Mary Cotten

BEDFORD -- Mary Alice Cotten passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.        Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at St. Vincent's Episcopal Cathedral, 1300 Forest Ridge in Bedford.        Memorials: In lieu of flowers, you may honor her memory with a memorial to St. Vincent's, where she has been a devoted member for 45 years and served in variety of capacities as volunteer, lay leader and staff member. Nothing was more important to her life than her faith and her church.        Mary Alice was born to Magness and Opal Mace on Dec. 10, 1928, on her family's farm in Kiowa County, Okla. In her youth she was an outstanding student and athlete, and was among the first class of women to be admitted to and graduate from Oklahoma A&M University (now Oklahoma State University). As an adult, she was a devout, intelligent woman with a calm demeanor and a quiet strength, who listened more than she talked and always thought much and deeply.
