MARY JANSEN

A native of Austin, Mary Elizabeth was born Sept. 19, 1914, the daughter of Ollie W. and Carrie Schermerhorn Hardy. She graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor's degree in English and the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her master's degree in education. Mary Elizabeth was a member of Southside Church of Christ, where she served as church secretary for several years and worked in many aspects of women's ministries. Her memberships also included the Woman's Club of Fort Worth, Sorosis Club and Associated Women for Christian Education. She served in the All Saints Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Jansen taught high school English in both San Antonio and Azle. In addition to her parents, Mary Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Walter S. Jansen, who died in 1971. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Jansen Owen and her husband, H. Dean Owen Jr., and Martha Jansen Baskin and her husband, David Baskin, all of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Brooke Elizabeth Goff and her husband, Jerrod, of Colleyville, Daniel M. Castleberg and his wife, Ericka, of Providence Village, H.D. "Trine" Owen III and his wife, Sharon, of North Richland Hills, Bryann A. Bruckerhoff and her husband, Josh, of Fort Worth, Melanie R. Castleberg of Abilene, Joanna L. Castleberg of Fort Worth, Bria J. Jordan and her husband, Brent, of Fort Worth and Weston Castleberg of Fort Worth; stepgrandchildren, Shelley R. Womack and her husband, Mikel, of Henderson, Jeremy D. Baskin and his wife, Krista, of Arlington, and Tiffany A. Campbell and her husband, Michael, of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Goff, Mary Kate Goff, Meg Goff, Ainsley Owen, Mia Goff, Ava Owen, H.D. "Sie" Owen IV and Brinkley Bruckerhoff; stepgreat-grandchildren, Kimberly, Jeremiah, Adrian and Johnathon Womack; sister, Ruth Hardy Roberts of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Sister-Outlaw, Imogene Copenhaver Jansen of Fort Worth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
