Mary passed away peacefully Thursday, July 14, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer at her home in the presence of her loving family. Mary saw life always with rose colored glasses. Mary was a loving, kind and ever giving woman. She had a zeal for life and loved a good laugh. She loved to watch British comedy and enjoyed sharing these shows with her family. Mary was a talented musician and had a passion for singing. Her talents were appreciated through numerous choirs and bands she performed with. One of her choral highlights was to sing at Carnegie Hall with the Baha'i choir. Mary was a dedicated servant to her Baha'i faith and gave freely of her time and talents. She had a special heart for animals and was especially fond of her beloved dogs. Born August 19, 1934 in Upminster, Essex, England to William Henry Parkinson and Clair Mellon, Mary moved to Canada with her family during WWII on one of the last boats seeking refuge from the war for British children in Canada. She attended the School of Nursing at Grace Hospital, Windsor, Ont. graduating as Registered Nurse. Nursing was her calling and she was a natural caregiver. On August 19, 1957 she married Doug Lamon and together they raised three sons and two daughters in many places most memorable being Milton, Ont and Beamsville, Ont. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sister Anne Nikulka and twin brother Malcolm Parkinson. Husband Doug Lamon; children, Eric Lamon and wife Cheryl of Argyle, Christopher Lamon and wife Jane of Southlake, Michael Lamon and wife Susan of Southlake, Barbara Lamon of Burlington, Ontario, and Jennifer Lamon and husband Robrecht Cnockaert of Retford, UK; grandchildren, Brock Lamon, Mackenzie Lamon, Mitchell Lamon, Matthew Lamon, Michael Lamon, Jeffrey Lamon, Emma Lamon, Jonah Lamon, Nicholas Lamon, Jacob Lamon, Sarah Lamon, Morgan Cnockaert and Conner Cnockaert; sister, Barbara Timmerman; beloved dogs Emma and Autumn Rose. Mary was blessed with a large extended family and friends who loved her very much. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Shannon Stuart for her dedication and loving care for Mary.
