Mary C. McClain

Mary “Sissy” C. (Fritz) McClain, 92, of Fort Worth, Texas was born on December 10, 1931 in Milam County, Texas to the late O.A. and Ila Mae Fritz. She passed away with her husband and daughter by her side on Monday, December 9, 2024, only hours before she would have been 93.

In her youth, Mary played piano for her church, her signature song being, “I’ll Fly Away.” Growing up on a farm with four brothers, she was tenacious and strong willed. Mary graduated Buckholts High School as Salutatorian in 1949.

After graduation, Mary moved to Dallas and eventually to Fort Worth to work in the insurance industry. Her dedicated service spanned 45 plus years. Mary’s expert insurance knowledge led to several supervisory positions along with a role as assistant to the VP.

After dating for two years, she married the love of her life, Eugene “Mac” McClain. They married March 12, 1951 and remained together for over 73 years until her death. Mary loved to be with her family and took every opportunity to gather and celebrate with them. She was very creative and talented. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and baking. Mary showed her love through the things she did for her family and friends. Mary was most known for her shopping and that she could never pass up a bargain.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James O. Fritz and wife Jean; and brother, Nathan Fritz.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Eugene; daughter, Letitia Davis and her husband, Harry; grandchildren: Lindsey, Jill, and Jenna Davis; brother, Emanuel Fritz; brother, Lenard Fritz; as well as numerous other members of her extended family.

To honor Mary, a visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, funeral service at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Williams and Lucas Funeral Home located at 517 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111. Followed immediately by interment service at Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery
