BEDFORD -- Mary Edith Moore, 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Graveside service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Mary was born Jan. 7, 1924, in Orr, Okla., to parents Roy and Florence Williams. She attended Courtney High School where she met the love of her life, Raymond Moore. Mary graduated as salutatorian of her class while Raymond was the valedictorian. Mary and Raymond were married on March 19, 1942. After their marriage, Raymond entered the Army where he participated in the Normandy Invasion earning the Bronze Star. While Raymond served his country in Europe, Mary worked at the Douglas Aircraft Co. in Oklahoma City working on C-47 aircraft as a real life "Rosie the Riviter." After the war, Mary and Raymond moved to Silver City, N.M., where Raymond earned his college degree. They then moved to California before finally settling in Fort Worth. Mary was a stay-at-home mother for their two children, Ray and Karen, and assisted Raymond in his tax and accounting business. After her children finished high school, Mary went to work for the JC Penney Co. where she retired in 1989. Mary and Raymond celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on March 19, 2008, prior to Raymond's passing away on Aug. 14, 2008. After Raymond's death, Mary spent her last years at Autumn Leaves of Fossil Creek. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Florence Williams; her brother, Darrell Williams; and her sister, Peggy Williams Cantwell. The family wishes to thank the staff at Autumn Leaves of Fossil Creek Assisted Living Center for the care and love provided to Mary for the past five years. Survivors: Son, Ray Moore and wife, Nita; daughter, Karen Mardis and husband, Robbie; grandchildren, Bryan Moore, Andy Moore, Trey Mardis, Brandon Mardis, Micki Chipman; and great-grandchildren, Savannah Mardis, Kaelin Mardis, Carson Chipman, Allison Chipman and Graysen Moore.
