HURST -- Mary Ann Smith passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011. Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at Bellevue Baptist Church, 625 W. Pipeline Road, Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Memorials: You may honor her memory with a gift to Bellevue Baptist Church. She was born June 24, 1939, in Hobert, Okla., to Marvin and Sadie Weber. She had been a resident of Hurst since 1967 and had been a member of Bellevue Baptist Church since 1972 where she was very active having been the social chairman for the Apprentice Angels Sunday School Class. Having worked as a florist for 30 years, she spent the next 20 working for Target as an administrative assistant where she was very supportive of young people, offering advice and preparing meals. Mary Ann worked with AIDS causes, including the AIDS quilt, and was always using her self-taught skills in knitting and crocheting shawls and quilts for family and friends. She loved to square dance and was immediately recognized by her distinctive "hoop" call. But her real pride and joy were her grandchildren, whose many pictures line the hall of her home. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Shannon Dale Smith. Survivors: Her husband of 53 years, John Tolbert Smith; son, Stan Smith and his wife, Colleen; daughters, Sherrilyn Sue Smith and Shelli Landers and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Matthew Landers, Sarah Gordon and her husband, Cody, Andrew Dale Tolbert Smith and Lauren Landers; great-granddaughter, Lexie Gordon; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
