HALTOM CITY -- Melba Riddle McDuffie, 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, surrounded by her family. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road in Hurst. Interment: Following committal services, she will be laid to rest with family members in Bluebonnet Hills. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was born in Maypearl on May 13, 1917, the beloved daughter of Chatten Leonard and Virgie Deatherage. Melba was a member of Birdville Church of Christ and longtime member of the Johnnie High Music Review Association. She counted her friends as among her greatest blessings. She will be remembered for her spunkiness, her backyard parties and her zest for life. Survivors: Her children, David Riddle and his wife, Marva, and Linda Riddle, all of Hurst; grandchildren, Stacy Bowen and David Riddle Jr.; two great-grandchildren; brother, Norman Deatherage; her sister, nieces and nephews; a precious church family; and many friends.
