FORT WORTH -- Merle Walker died peacefully Sunday morning, Jan. 10, 2010, in her 95th year. Service: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at University Drive, 2720 S. University Drive, the Rev. Dr. Alan Lobaugh officiating. Merle will be laid to rest privately in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends will be received in the church parlor immediately following the chapel service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity of one's choice, honoring Merle's memory, is suggested. A native of Britton, Merle was born July 14, 1914, the daughter of Albert and Orlene Maynard Walker. She graduated from Midlothian High School before attending Texas Technological College where she received a B.S. in education. She later received her M.S. in education from Texas Christian University. Merle taught at Lily B. Clayton and Alice B. Carlson elementary schools, Rosemont Junior High and retired as vice principal from R.L. Paschal High School. She was a longtime member of University Christian Church.
