HURST -- Michael Wayne Brassell, 64, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at his home in the company of his loving family after a long and courageous battle with melanoma cancer.        Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist of Euless, 1000 W. Airport Freeway. The Rev. Bob Neely, minister of pastoral care, will officiate. Interment: Michael will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Carthage, with the Rev. Leroy Hassler officiating.        Michael was born Sept. 22, 1945, to Marie and Dorsey Brassell in Marshall and graduated from Carthage High School in 1964. He attended Texas A&M and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1969. He married Kay Thornton on June 27, 1970. Michael was employed by Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth for 34 years as a senior contract specialist on the F-2 program. Michael and Kay have been active members of First Baptist Church of Euless since 1970. He taught children's Sunday school for 26 years and sang in the church choir for 20-plus years. Michael also participated in the intercessory prayer ministry for years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Bell Brassell and Dorsey Brassell.        Survivors: His loving wife of 39 years, Kay Brassell; mother-in-law, Hatsie Thornton; brother-in-law, Charles Thornton; sister-in-law, Pat Thornton; nephew, John Thornton; nieces, Caroline Kay Thornton and Jenilee Thornton; aunt, Nollie Hardy; friends who were like brothers, Mike Roquemore and Ben C.
