Michael Walsh

Michael Lee Walsh, 63, a loving husband and father, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at his home in Venus, Texas. The Celebration of His Life will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Blessing Funeral Home Chapel, 401 Elm St., Mansfield, Texas. Michael is survived by his wife of 14 years, Catherine Sweet Walsh; children, Michael & Dana Walsh and their children, Rylee & Madilynn; Matthew & Cyndi Walsh and their children Brianne & Lily; Whitney Walsh; brothers, Robert Walsh and wife, Janet, William and Patrick Walsh.  Michael was born on January 11, 1949 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Robert Leslie Walsh and Dorothy Lee Gaddis Walsh. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.  He attended college at Texas A&M University, graduating with his Masters Degree. He married Catherine Drake Sweet on August 23, 1997.  Michael’s first love was his family.  He treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren.  They, and his wife, Cathy, meant everything to him.  His students at Robbie E. Howard Jr High in Waxahachie, Texas were a close second.  Teaching was his second career, one he loved dearly.  The children he taught touched his heart in ways that he never imagined they could.  They were a true joy to him. Michael will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Those who would like to visit with the family are welcome to join us following the Service.  Directions will be provided at that time.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Michael’s memory has been established to benefit the children he taught at Robbie E.
