Murry was an accomplished sculptor and painter who struggled with dyslexia in his early years. In spite of this drawback, he graduated with honors with a BFA in art from the University of Oklahoma. Murry was the subject of many papers and articles written about his success in overcoming dyslexia and was a frequent speaker at symposia related to learning disorders. Murry taught art and worked with his students through state and federal grants. These included programs with Native Americans, young people in jeopardy, the elderly and others. Murry was a gentle man who loved people and animals and was loved in return. We will all miss him. Murry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and R. Ruth Thompson. Survivors: Wife, Sylvia; stepdaughter, Heather; sister, Beverly Maxcy and husband, Lonnie; niece, Tracidee Green; and nephews, Keith and Ryan From and their families.
