Nancy Martin

Nancy Parker Martin, 63, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 1, 2011, with her family by her side. Nancy was always a woman of grace with an unwavering faith in the Lord.        Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, with Dr. Jim Bowden and Dr. Steven Bell officiating. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall St., Grapevine.        Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Nancy's honor to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, www.tnbcfoundation.org, or TNBC Foundation, Box 204, Norwood, N.J. 07648.        Nancy was born Dec. 1, 1947, in Granville, N.Y., to Nathaniel and Ellen Parker. Nancy was the second of four children and the only daughter of Nat and Ellen. The family moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1960, and Nancy graduated from Tucson High School in 1965. After two years at the University of Arizona, Nancy was selected at the age of 19 as the youngest stewardess in American Airlines' history.        In 1968, while living in New York City, Nancy met and fell in love with her future husband, Matthew D. Martin Jr. Nancy and Matt were married March 24, 1973, in Dallas, and together they had two children, Ellen and Matthew. Nancy retired from American Airlines in 1975 to focus on her career as the Best Mom Ever!        Nancy had a lifelong passion for writing, a talent that is sorely missed as is clear by this obituary written by her children. Above all else, however, Nancy's passion was her family and ensuring that everyone around her always felt blessed, cared for and loved.        Survivors: Husband, Matthew D. Martin Jr.; daughter, Ellen Martin Duplantis and husband, Chad; her "Sonny Boy," Matthew D. Martin III; grandchildren, Austin and Ava Brielle Duplantis; parents, Nathaniel and Ellen Parker; brothers, Nathaniel W. Parker III and wife, Kathy, Douglas Parker and wife, Kathy, Richard Parker and wife, Laurie; and many nieces and nephews. In addition, Nancy is survived by Matt's children: daughter, Barbara Dermody and husband, Kevin; son, William Martin and wife, Amy; son, Douglas Martin and wife, Sheri; son, Steven Martin; and their children.
