HURST -- Nancy M. Meador, 73, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 3, 2007. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday, Lucas Funeral Home. Interment: 1:30 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association. Nancy was born in Apalachicola, Fla. She grew up in Decatur, Ga., where she met her husband, Frank Meador, and married him after he graduated from West Point in 1954. She was a devoted wife and mother and also active as a volunteer worker in the Army hospitals, serving as chairman of the Red Cross Gray Ladies at West Point. She loved the Lord and was active in church work and music. She was a church pianist at age 16 and continued in choir and music programs throughout her life. Nancy also taught both adult and youth classes in Sunday school for many years. She moved with her husband to Texas while he attended the Seminary and then assumed the role as minister's wife for 15 years. Nancy was a compassionate, loving and giving person who touched many lives. Survivors: Husband of 53 years, Frank Meador; daughter, Cathy Shaw and husband, Mike; grandson, Michael Shaw and wife, Jennifer; granddaughter, Alison Sheffield and husband, Cratin; and great-grandsons, Zane Sheffield and Anthony Howard.
