Neva Byrd

HURST -- Neva M. Byrd, 72, passed away Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.        Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road in Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: The family will receive friend 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.        Neva was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Lamar County to Silas and Clara Howell. She married J.R. Byrd on April 9, 1955, and shared 56 years together. She worked at Family Hair Center from 1977 to 2001. Neva was a breast cancer survivor in the mid-1990s and survived pancreatic cancer for 2 1/2 years.        Neva was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry Lynn Byrd; two sisters; and two brothers.        Survivors: Husband, J.R. Byrd of Hurst; son, Reggie Byrd and wife, Janet, of Aurora; daughter, Ann Togert of Fairview; grandsons, Johnnie Byrd and wife, Stephanie, of Mansfield and Robert Byrd of Aurora; granddaughters, Lisa Burguess and husband, Shane, of Watauga and Michelle Bernhardt and husband, Richard, of Fort Worth; and sister, Martha White and husband, Red, of Houston.
