Noel Morrow

EL PASO -- Noel Allen Morrow, a longtime Birdville ISD educator, passed away in El Paso Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at the grave in Mount Olivet Cemetery of Fort Worth. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lucas Hurst Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road. Memorials: Friends are respectfully invited to honor Allen with a memorial contribution in his name to a charity of choice. Allen was born May 4, 1935, in Fort Worth to H. Lee and Lila Allen Morrow and lived most of his life in the Fort Worth area. Allen was a graduate of Carter-Riverside High School in Fort Worth and received bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas Christian University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Kappa education fraternity and was a member of the TCU Army ROTC rifle team. He was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Army artillery and served as professor of military science at Richland High School in the Birdville Independent School District. Under his leadership the Richland High School ROTC rifle team won the championship of the Fourth Army Region. He remained with BISD in various capacities for 34 years, retiring in 1995 as associate superintendent of finance. As a member of Northeast Kiwanis he enjoyed helping with its annual Senior Citizen's Fair. He was a founding director of North Texas Junior Horse Show Association and had been an adult 4-H leader. After retiring to El Paso in 2000 he enjoyed membership in two senior golf associations. Allen and his wife, Sharon Rutledge Morrow, observed their 50th wedding anniversary in September 2007. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Sharon, Allen is survived by his daughter, Angela Morrow Nickey and her husband, Stephen; and grandson, Truett Nickey, all of El Paso; his sister, Linda Dorsey of San Antonio; and extended-family members.
