SHORT, Nora Patricia, 73, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas after a brave fight with cancer. Nora was born November 14, 1941 in Calgary, Alberta to Ida Patricia MacWilliams (d.1995) and Ronald Campbell MacWilliams (d.1953). Nora is lovingly remembered by her son Steven G. Short; daughter Patricia L. Uvaney and son-in-law Eric S.; granddaughters Emily M. and Megan W. Uvaney; as well as her brother James MacWilliams. Nora grew up in Calgary and graduated from Central High School. She retained lifelong friends from her school days. After graduation, she began her career at the Alberta Energy Conservation Board where she met her future husband, Alan Short (d. 1996). Within a few years, the couple moved to California where they spent the majority of their lives to live and raise their family. Nora and Alan eventually divorced. Throughout her life, Nora worked a few different jobs, but really enjoyed her time at Citibank TTI, manufacturing ATM’s. Nora initially retired to Big Bear Lake, California, enjoying the mountain air and life style provided by the resort community. She took a part-time job at Snow Summit Ski Resort to continue contributions to the community. After a few years she moved to Corona, California, taking part on the board of the home owners association at Triana Ranch, making even more friends. Later in retirement, Nora moved to Fort Worth, Texas with her daughter and son-in-law to enjoy her grandchildren and the western culture. While in Texas, more friends were made and trips with them to different venues around the United States. Wherever she lived, Nora had an endearing commitment to family, friends and a few felines. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. 817-753-6800 An inurnment will be at a later date in Calgary, Canada.
