ARLINGTON -- Norma B. Jones, 70, passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with cancer Sunday morning, Aug. 9, 2009, with her family by her side. She was a survivor and determined not to allow her disease to take her away before her time. Memorial service: 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, with her family receiving friends after 6 p.m. She will be laid to rest privately on Wednesday in Hebrew Rest Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity of one's choice is suggested. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Norma was born Aug. 28, 1938. She was a 40-year resident of Arlington, a registered nurse and worked with hospice. Her family wants to thank Manor Care Rehab Center and Grace Hospice for the care and many kindnesses shown to their mother; they could not have lived through this without their help. Survivors: In addition to her children, Jackie Tucker Adami and her husband, Marty, Abby Shuford and Daniel Jones and his wife, Christine, Norma is survived by her grandchildren, Jesse Tucker and his wife, Keirschen, and Jennifer Shuford; great-grandchild, Jaydah Tucker; sister, Susan Stone and her husband, Ed; and her best friend, who we owe the world to, Ann Glenn. Lucas Funeral Home Hurst, 817-284-7271
