Norma Magsila Bautista Torres, 74, went to be with her Heavenly Father she so trusted on Friday, September 13, 2013 in Moreno Valley, CA. She can now rest in peace and be with God. She was born October 8, 1938 in La Huerta, Paranaque City, Manila, Philippines. She will be remembered by her family as a strong tough woman. By her friends & family, a kind, generous, selfless soul. She enjoyed helping others assisting several family members attain US citizenship and hosted 17 foreign exchange students in a 7 year period. She worked hard, because she wanted to take care of her two daughters & extended family in the Philippines & all over the United States. Norma was a midwife, ambulance/emergency room nurse and supervisor. She had her Bachelors in Science for Nursing from St. Anthony Hospital in Iloilo City, Philippines, among several other degrees & titles she earned while a nurse in the United States. Norma was petitioned to the US in 1972, due to a shortage of nurses in rural counties and worked at Fairfield Memorial Hospital as a Charge Nurse. This is why Norma was able to call Fairfield home for over 40 years. Norma retired from Mexia State School in 1999. She is preceded in death by her husband Solito R. Torres survived by her two daughters, Norysol Lynn Torres Tamayo & Bernadette Joanne Torres Martinez. Two grandchildren, Joshua A. Tamayo & Tiyanna N. Tamayo. Son-In-Laws Moises Tamayo & Michael Martinez. Sisters Gertrudes Bautista Sarmiento, Nora Bautista Jalina. Brothers Eduardo Magsila Bautista, wife Natividad, Robert Magsila Bautista, wife Priscila, numerous Aunties, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces & Nephews, Preceded in death by mother Gregoria Magsila Bautista, father Jaime Espiritu Bautista, brother Jaime Magsila Bautista Jr. Viewing: 5-9 PM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Lucas Funeral Home, 137 East Hill Street, Keller, TX 76248. Norma will be laid to rest with her husband of over 32 years at The Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
