FORT WORTH -- Norman Paul Richard, 71, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and brother-in-law, died peacefully Friday morning, June 23, 2006, surrounded by family and friends. ??? Funeral: 11 a.m. Sunday in Barnett Sanctuary of Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 4050 S. Hulen St. Rabbi Alberto "Baruch" Zeilicovich and Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger will officiate. Burial: Following committal prayers, Norman will be laid to rest in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. Minyan service: 6 p.m. Sunday at the residence. ??? Bearers of his casket will be Arnold Abrams, Michael Blanc, Ed Bond, Jai Doshi, Dr. Al Faigin, Alan Kottler, Daniel Russakov, Dr. James Scott, Lenny Schreier, Jerry Weiner and Don Zimmerman. ??? Memorials: Mr. Richard's family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, friends may honor his memory by making contributions to the Autism Society of America, the American Heart Association or to Congregation Ahavath Sholom. ??? Norman Paul Richard was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 16, 1934. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. After living in New York and New Jersey, Norman and the family moved to Fort Worth in 1970. New to Texas, Norm started a hushpuppy business, R&R Foods, with a friend. He became well known in the security business as he progressed through Armco, National Guardian and Alarm Specialties until his retirement. ??? Norman was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Congregation Ahavath Sholom and B'nai B'rith. He will be remembered for his sharp, dry wit, hosting barbecues at his pool, and his weekly poker game. He loved to travel and went on many annual cruises with 20 or more friends. ??? The family wishes to thank Dr. John Durand and Lisa Stewart for prolonging his quality of life for almost a decade and Covenant Hospice for the final days. ??? Survivors: His wife of 51 years, Sondra; daughter, Rhonda Goodman and her husband, Kenneth; son, Scott Richard; grandchildren, Jared, Adeana, Sean, Evan and Brianna; great-grandchild, Andrew; brother, Fred Richard and his wife, Rhoda; sister-in-law, Leila Poretskin and her husband, Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
