FORT WORTH -- Otis Ferman Linebarger, 97, died peacefully Monday morning, Dec. 31, 2007. Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday in Mary Leonard Memorial Chapel at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, 800 W. Fifth St. The Rev. Dr. William Longsworth and the Rev. Dr. Lamar Smith will officiate. Interment: Following the service at the church, Line will be laid to rest, privately, in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: Mr. Linebarger will lie in state Friday in the Parlor at Robertson Mueller Harper; his family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. in the Great Room. Honorary bearers of his casket will be Bruce Alford, Jim Bradshaw, Tim Curry, David Lavine, Stanford Lifsey, Mike Merrill, Mike Moore, Wayne Pinkerton and Ted Tomlinson. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to the Geriatrics Division Foundation at UNT Health Science Center, in care of Janice Knebl, D.O., 855 Montgomery St., Fort Worth, Texas 76107, in Line's memory, is suggested. A native of Tolbert, Tenn., Otis Ferman Linebarger was born Aug. 10, 1910, the son of Luther and Minnie Moyer Linebarger and was the middle of seven children. He married Imogene Rushing on Aug. 9, 1937. The couple raised two children, Lee and John. Line started working for the F.W. Woolworth Co. while in high school and retired Dec. 31, 1975, in Fort Worth after 50 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth and its Twosome Sunday School Class and was active in other areas of the church. His memberships also included several civic and charitable organizations. Line was a longtime volunteer at Harris Methodist Fort Worth hospital. Along with his wife and daughter, he received an award for being the only family of volunteers with a combined total of over 12,000 hours of service. Line and Imogene enjoyed traveling the world, before and after retirement, with friends. Survivors: In addition to his wife and children, Line is survived by his son-in-law, Olan Watkins; grandchildren, Kay and Brian Waktins, all of Fort Worth; sister, Geraldine Linebarger Bond of Jonesborough, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
