NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Owen H. Avants passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Owen was a loving father and grandfather. He was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball. Owen proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Hazel; parents, Sterling and Emma Avants; brothers, Harold and Grady; and sister, Effie. Survivors: Daughter, Barbara Ann Akers; grandson, Rick Akers and his wife, Margaret; sister, Bonnie Conner; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
