FORT WORTH -- Pamela Pierce "Pam" Berry, a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, during her 66th year, after a hard-fought battle with bladder cancer. She shared her energy and enthusiasm with all who knew her. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, 800 W. Fifth St., the Rev. Dr. William M. Longsworth officiating. Family and friends will gather to share laughter and tears in the Garden Room at Ridglea Country Club following the service, beginning at 3 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Safe Haven or Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth, in Pam's memory, is suggested. Born May 5, 1945, in Birmingham, Ala., Pam was the daughter of Louis Franklin Pierce and Gwendolyn Brown Pierce. She was raised in Birmingham and graduated from Shades Valley High School, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Psi sorority. Pam and her family moved to Fort Worth in 1970. In 1980, Pam married Clay J. Berry Jr. and became a mortgage lender, spending 30 years in that industry until her retirement from Southwest Bank in 2010. Pam and Clay spent 25 wonderful years together before his death in 2006. Pam served on the board of the Fort Worth Child Study Center, and was a member of River Crest Country Club, the Fort Worth Boat Club, the Junior Woman's Club. She also served as president of the Plum Valley Homeowners Association. Her many interests included traveling, gardening, decorating, painting and playing bridge. She enjoyed handwork, refinishing furniture, cooking, her dogs, and involvement in her children's and grandchildren's activities. She loved trips to the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala., reading, politics, and TCU football. Pam was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son-in-law, Scott Hopping; and nephew, Nicholas Pierce. Survivors: In addition to her children, Laura Hopping Williams and her husband, Gary Lee, of Lubbock, Virginia "Ginny" Kimberlin and her husband, Craig, of Fort Worth and M. Craig Grove and his wife, Laura, of Brownsville, Pam is survived by her grandchildren, Ryan Hopping and his wife, Ariel, of Lubbock, Cole and Kylie Kimberlin of Fort Worth and Pierce and Michael Grove of Brownsville; great-granddaughters, Alyvia and Audrey Hopping; sister, Michal Pierce Carroll; brother, "Chip" Pierce and his wife, Ann, of Birmingham, Ala.; stepdaughters, Lindsey Berry, Lisa Evon and her husband, Don, and Margaret Anne Berry; and stepgrandchildren, George Rickenbach, Clay Evon and Sadrenia Davis.
