COLLEYVILLE -- Paula Buckner Packer, 72, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, with family at her side after a brief battle with amyloidosis and cancer. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Hurst, 521 West Pipline Road, Hurst. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Saturday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville. Memorials: gifts may be made to the Pipe Organ Fund of First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Paula Buckner Packer was born Sept. 27, 1938, in Burkburnett to E.Y. and Jewell Buckner. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor of music education. She married Jim Packer, Aug. 20, 1960. Paula had been in the First Hurst Chancel Choir for 43 years, and Searching Together Sunday School Class. Oak Crest Woman's Club President and Woman of the Year. Her hobbies were sewing, crafts, painting, music and entertaining. Survivors: Husband, James E. "Jim" Packer; daughter, Patti Worden of Fort Worth; son, Doug Packer and wife, Patti; son, Mark Packer and wife, Dee Dee, of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters, Diane Young of Haslet and Kay Hamlin and husband, Charles, of Sweetwater; eight grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew.
