Pauline Berend

Pauline Berend, 84 of Pilot Point, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. She was born on January 25, 1924 in Pilot Point to Emil and Louisia (Huscke) Schindler. She married Virgil Berend on April 20, 1948 in Pilot Point. She was a graduate of Pilot Point High School, a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Thomas, the Golden Age Club and the 19th Century Club at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a volunteer for many years with the Pilot Point 4-H. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, shopping and being active with her children and grandchildren. She loved attending their games, especially basketball. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Virgil Berend of Pilot Point, three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Leon Pelzel, Barbara and Mike Ettredge, and Deborah and Gary Garcin all of Pilot Point. She is also survived by one sister, Viola Wilson of Reno, NV and seven grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Pilot Point Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1289, Pilot Point, TX 76258.
