RALPH HART

FORT WORTH -- Ralph Coverdale Hart died at home peacefully Friday morning, July 29, 2011, during his 98th year. Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Leonard Memorial Chapel at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, 800 W. Fifth St., the Rev. Dr. William Longsworth officiating. Following military honors, Ralph will be laid to rest privately next to his wife, Mary Lee, in Greenwood Memorial Park. Friends will be received immediately after the service. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, consideration of expressions to one of the many charities he has been involved in over the years, such as Cook Children's Medical Center, Happy Hill Farm Academy, The Warm Place or the NAAF Research Fund, is suggested. Born Nov. 5, 1912, in Coffeeville, Kan., Ralph was the son of Ralph Frances and Edna Coverdale Hart. The family later moved to Brownwood where he graduated from Brownwood High School and Howard Payne College. Ralph served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was drafted again for the Korean War. He loved meeting people from all over the world. After moving back to Fort Worth, he went into the oil business with his mother. Ralph had a true passion for the business and loved exploring the oil fields of Texas and New Mexico. He married Mary Lee Lockhart, the love of his life. They had a wonderful, loving marriage of 49 years before her death in 2007. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; his family was the most important thing to him. Ralph was also an incredibly generous man. He has given to numerous charities and has been recognized by Cook Children's Medical Center for helping so many sick children. His philosophy was, "the more you give, the more you receive." He was always concerned for the welfare of others. He was rewarded with a long, happy life with a wonderful wife, children and grandchildren who adored him. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors: In addition to his children, Susan and Tracy Thompson and David and Andrea Hart, Ralph is survived by five grandchildren, Tye, Katie, Hunter, Carson and Parker.
