TROPHY CLUB -- Ray Edward Butler, 79, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, at home with his loving family by his side. Memorial service: A celebration of Ray's life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 24, in Lucas Funeral Home Chapel, 700 W. Wall St., Grapevine. Inurnmnent: a later date in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home. Ray Edward Butler was born in Slater, Mo., on March 7, 1930, to James Lewis and Leta Erma Saltonstall Butler. Ray was extremely proud to have served his country in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 33 years of service as a chief master sergeant and personnel director of AAFES. Ray was a great family man, a fabulous husband to each wife. He was a member of Fellowship Church of Grapevine. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, LaVonne Butler; son, David Butler; and brother, James Butler. Survivors: Wife, Camille Butler; daughter, Deborah Crawford; grandchildren, Shawn Crawford and wife, Jessica, Brooke Crawford and Christopher and Aaron Butler; great-grandson, Quinten Crawford; sister, Eleanor Kilgore and husband, Bud; daughter-in-law, Cindy Butler; two stepchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and other extended family members.
