ARLINGTON -- Richard "Dick" J. Leyerle, 84, formerly of Sun City West, Arizona, and Oak Lawn, Illinois, died peacefully at his home at Eden Terrace Senior Living in Arlington Tuesday, September 27, 2005. ??? Funeral: There will be a private memorial ceremony and internment at the Desert Garden Church in Sun City West, Arizona. ??? He was born December 22, 1920, in Chicago, the son of Hugh and Maude (Trewin) Leyerle. In Chicago, Dick attended Bowen High School, and married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Brosnan, on January 31,1942. During World War II he served with the Fifth Army in Medical Administration in Italy, and served out his enlistment as part of the Occupation force in the Philippines. Dick received a degree in accounting and most of his working life he was employed at I.N.R. Beatty Lumber Company in Oak Lawn. He retired as Chief Financial Officer. While living in Oak Lawn, Dick and his wife Ruth were founding members of the Garden Methodist Church. Dick headed the building committee which built the church in the early 60?s. An avid golfer and bowler, Dick was active in his church?s leagues. Dick was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 2002, his sister Ethel Leyerle McPhillips of Hammond, Indiana, and his parents Hugh Lane Leyerle and Maude (Trewin) Leyerle. ??? Survivors: He is survived by his sons Rick (Dianne) of Madison, Wisconsin, and David (Patti) of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren, Dr. Brooke Loewenstein, Buckeystown, Maryland, Brent Leyerle, Pinedale, Wyoming, Krista Leyerle, Arlington, Texas, and Ronald Brown and Jennifer Brown of Arlington, Texas; his brother Raymond, of Gibsonburg, Ohio; and nine nieces and nephews.
