Richard A. Von Staden, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, Keller. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ's Haven for Children at christshaven.org. Richard was born April 29, 1930, in Jersey City, N.J., where he was raised and married his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Von Staden. He proudly served his country in Korea as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Before retiring at age 55, he worked for New Jersey Bell for 32 years. In 1989, Richard and his wife moved to Keller where he was involved in local politics. Richard gave his time to many different causes, such as being instrumental in the building of the first Pact Park as well as volunteering at the Keller Country Bike Rally. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Rogers. Survivors: His wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Linda Rogers, Susan McDaniel and husband, Jack, and Sandy Ausman and fiance, Brian McKinney; grandchildren, John, Robert, Jeremiah, Mary, Katie, Amanda, Nikki and Kayla; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Ellie and Payton.
