NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Ricky Dale Crowe was called home peacefully while in his sleep on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Ricky was born July 17, 1958, to Pat and Gary Crowe in Wichita Falls. He was a son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, friend and most of all proud father to his son, Dakota "Cody" Paul Crowe. As a dedicated father, Rick took seriously his role in his son's life. He loved watching Cody play baseball, basketball, practice karate and participate in other activities. Rick and Cody enjoyed spending their time together no matter what they were doing. Rick remained a kid at heart throughout his life and he will always be remembered for his jokes, pranks and fun-loving spirit. He loved the outdoors and grew up hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was an amazing brisket cook, loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and the best baseball dad any kid could wish for. Ricky was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Jennifer Smajstrala, in 2000; and his father, Gary Dale Crowe, in 1995. Survivors: Ricky left behind his son, Dakota Crowe; mother, Pat Crowe; grandmother, Eillene Dickens; sister, Lisa Crowe Beard and husband, Keith; stepmother, Jane Crowe Clark; niece, Loran and husband, Justin Wilburn; nephews, Sgt. Branson Hutchens, currently serving in Iraq, Troy and Travis Beard; great-niece, Lindee Wilburn; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ricky also had a special place in his heart for his lifelong friends, Brice Cottingame, Darrell Addington and Paul Taylor, and the mother of his son, Judy Saxton.
