FORT WORTH -- Robert A. Black, 65, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011. Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvario Funeral Chapel (formerly Shannon North). Interment: 12:30 p.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Calvario Funeral Home. Robert was born Nov. 15, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio. He joined the U.S. Air Force on Nov. 14, 1963, where he served in Europe, Panama, Pacific Air Force and Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one device, Air Force Longevity Service ribbon with four devices, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Basic Aircrew badge. Bob retired Oct. 31, 1983, at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth as B-52 aircraft maintenance line chief for the 20th Air Force 7th Bomb wing. From 1984 to 2011, Bob worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier where he worked at the Ridgley Station. In his free time he enjoyed family and playing with his grandson, among other interests. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors: Wife, Mary "Dusty" Black of Fort Worth; sons, Danny Mumma of Fort Worth, Mark Black of Fort Worth and Mike Black of Centerville, Ohio; grandson, Justin Black of Fort Worth; and brother, Daniel C. Black of Holt, Fla.
