NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Robert Samuel Hicks, 66, peacefully gained Eternity Sunday, June 23, 2013, at his home. Memorial service: 12:30 p.m. Friday at Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Hurst. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst. Memorial: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.curemeso.org Born in Fort Smith, Ark., Sam moved to Fort Worth at the age of 10, making Texas his permanent residence. He was a man of compassion, conviction and loyalty, sharing his life with wife, Judith, for 25 years. His proudest accomplishment would be his daughters, Michelle Lynn Hicks and Ashley Anne Brashear, of Denver, who both received nursing degrees. Sam served his country, retiring from the U.S. Navy, received his business administration degree and was currently employed with DFW Airport Board. His career also included engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad and utility management with the Super Conducting Super Collider. Family and friends will quickly tell you that his life of service has been a constant, giving his heart and hope to his church, community and many friends and associates. Sam was preceded in death by parents, Patsy and Robert Hicks Sr., and sister, Patty Myers. Survivors: In addition to his wife and daughters, brothers, Tom Hicks and wife, Zoni, and David Hicks and wife, Sherri.
