Slay Memorial Funeral Center Aubrey, Texas Robert Thomas Karnes, Sr., 78 of Krugerville passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 in Denton. He was born April 26, 1933 to Myrtle Minnix and Leelon Hamilton Karnes in Vinton/Roanoke, VA. Robert served in the United States Air Force and worked as a Crew Chief for American Airlines before his retirement in 1989. Robert married Sandra Kay Turner. They were married for 41 years. The family will host a visitation Thursday, March 29 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Krugerville. Services for Robert are scheduled for Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Krugerville with Reverend Sam Redfearn officiating. Burial will be at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey. Robert is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Suzanne Karnes Newman of Little Elm; three sons, Robert Thomas Karnes, Jr. of Virginia; Timothy Allen Karnes of Garland, TX; and Matthew Hamilton Karnes of Irving, TX; six grandchildren, Kathryn Grace Newman; Rebekah Christine Newman; Robert Carey Karnes; Zachary Allen Karnes; Alexis Faith Karnes; and Tyson Alexander Karnes. Robert is also survived by his sister, Shelvy Miller of Augusta, GA; and one sister-in-law, Janet Karnes of Shawsville, VA.
