Robert Lee Massingill

Robert ‘Duce’ Lee Massingill March 25th, 1945 - August 6th, 2011   Robert ‘Duce’ Lee Massingill, of Mansfield, Texas was 62 years of age when he suffered a massive heart attack Wednesday, August 3rd in Monticello, Utah while out on the trails with great friends doing what he loved; riding dirt bikes.  Robert spent his last moments with the men who shared his same passions; before being flown with his wife at his side to the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.   At first, the angels stood behind his bed guarding his every breath as he spent the next few days having his long awaited talk with God, with Linda still by his side holding his hand and lovingly caressing him.   Late Saturday evening, August 6th when peace with his Lord had been reached and his breath began to fade; the angels hovered above him, gently lifting his spirit into the heavenly hand of God; where he will wait patiently to welcome those who love him, hard edges and all.  After all, hard edges hide a tender heart, silent as a midnight prayer. Hard edges hide the sweetest part, til you'd never know it's there.   Robert was born March 25th, 1949 in Comanche, Texas to Gladys Louise and the late Dutch Massingill.  Robert was a proud Marine, he served his country as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War.  Upon his honorable discharge; Robert began his Law Enforcement career in 1971 serving the Dallas community as an officer in many facets of the Dallas Police Department in Southwest Dallas spanning 33 years.   During that time he met the love of his life, Linda.  They were married March 23rd, 1979 and together they raised 4 children.    In 2004 when Robert retired from the Dallas Police Department; he and his ‘angel on earth’ set out on their journey together to enjoy the wonderful landscapes, time together as soul mates and making life long friends along the way.    Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. ~Author Unknown   As we mourn the loss of Robert, others are rejoicing to meet and welcome him into heaven.
