FORT WORTH -- Rosalyn Israel Pawgan, 66, died Wednesday morning, May 13, 2009, following a long battle with heart disease. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Rashti Chapel at Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 4050 S. Hulen St. Rabbi Alberto "Baruch" Zeilicovich and Dr. Javier Smolarz, ritual director, will officiate. Following committal prayers, Rosalyn will be laid to rest in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the American Heart Association or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is suggested. A native of the Bronx, New York, Rosalyn was born August 5, 1942, the daughter of David and Selma Israel. She graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse from Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. Rosalyn graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.A. in nutrition and received her Master's degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Survivors: In addition to her husband or 42 years, Dr. Arthur Pawgan, Rosalyn is survived by her daughter, Kim of Dallas; son, Scott of Conroe; sister, Barbara Kaplan of Sayville, N.Y.; brother, Stan Israel of Barrington, R.I.; sister-in-law, Marian Cohen of Gainesville, Fla.; and nieces, nephews and their families.
