Ruben Collinsworth

ARLINGTON -- Ruben T. Collinsworth, 67, died Friday, May 23, 2008, after a brief illness. Ruben was born Sept. 24, 1940, in Coppell and cared for his parents and siblings all his life. He attended Grapevine schools, received a certificate of theology from Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington and was ordained by Victory Baptist Church in 1968. Ruben preached at nursing homes in the Mansfield area for over 35 years. He loved to talk and loved to preach the word of God. Ruben was employed by Martin Sprocket from 1963 to 2005. After retiring, he spent time with his church friends in Bible study and ministry through Pleasantview Baptist Church. His great-niece and nephews said that he was a very loving person, loved by his family and friends and was a privilege to know. A special thanks to his Pleasantview friends; the staff at Arlington Memorial Hospital; Cragg Sanders, Ricky, Elizabeth, and Stephen Thompson, Chuck Hawkins and Lee Collinsworth; and many more who stood at his bedside as he went to heaven. Ruben was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Arthur Collinsworth; father, L.D. Collinsworth; brothers, Paul and J.T.; and sister, Mollie Jo. Survivors: Brother, L.W. Collinsworth; nieces and nephews, Dianne Thompson, Linda Sanders, Charles Levi and Richard Hawkins, Thomas, Levi, Marion and Terry Collinsworth; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
