Ruby Fern Gilmore

ARLINGTON -- Ruby Fern Carter Gilmore, left to be with the Lord, on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Rd. in Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills. Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Ruby had been in Arlington for the last 10 years and had been on hospice due to COPD and other medical conditions. She fought a long battle with cancer in three different areas of her body and won. Ruby enjoyed reading, video games, and educational programs on the television. Her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren were just some of her many joys in life. She will be dearly missed as she was a strong woman with tremendous family values and always there for her mother, siblings, children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Darrah Wayne Gilmore, sisters, Florine Carter Murdock, Annabel Wharton and brother, Edgar Carter.
