Ruth Herron

COLLEYVILLE -- Ruth Herron passed away peacefully at her home in a local care center, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, June 12, 2011. She was 98 years old.        Memorial service: Was held Tuesday for family.        Memorials: Donations in her honor may be sent to Silver Ridge Assisted Living, 5314 Bransford Road, Colleyville, Texas 76034, attention: David Keener.        She was born Sept. 4, 1912, to Denby and Pearl Easley in Heilman, Ind. The family moved to Las Animas, Colo., when Ruth was 6 years old, and she graduated from Bent County High School in 1930. She married LeRoy Herron in 1934. While her husband served in the Navy in World War II, Ruth worked for the telephone company in San Francisco, Calif., and also worked at the Air Force base in LaJunta, Colo. After her two children were born, the family settled in Las Animas where Ruth lived until her husband passed in 1971. She moved to the HEB area in 1972.        She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her sister, Bernice Brown; brother-in-law, Lucian Brown; Judy Crites Herron; and great-nephew, Dan Nickerson.        Survivors: Our beloved Nana will be deeply missed by her son, Lee and his wife, Sharon, of Colleyville; daughter, Ann of Centennial, Colo.; grandchildren, Amanda Lee, Daniel and his wife, Amanda Kate, David and Ashley; great-granddaughter, Caroline Kate; nieces, Shirley Brown and Betty Nickerson and her husband, Bill; and her dear friends, EF and Irma Crites.
