Sarah Gean Wied

HURST -- Sarah (Sallye) Gean Drake Wied, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012. She was loving Grammy to her family. Memorial Service: Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 1:00 PM at St. Philip Presbyterian Church, 745 W. Pipeline Road, Hurst. Memorials: Please honor her with a memorial to Sallye's Lovies at St. Philip Presbyterian Church or to Kay Lynn's Pantry. Sarah was born in Fort Worth on October 19, 1927, to Aubrey B. and Pauline Whitehurst Drake. From age 3, she was raised by her stepmother, Ovee Bates Drake. She graduated from Polytechnic High School and attended TWC and NTAC (now UTA) where she met her forever husband of 64 years. She was very active in her church, serving as President of the Women of the Church, and taught preschool for 25 years. She served on the Presbytery on a staff of teachers traveling to weekend labs, training preschool curriculum to teachers in other cities.
